Q&A with Titus Kakova
Born and raised in Zimbabwe and now a proud Capetonian, Titus (Sous Chef) spends his time preparing the most delicious meals for our guests. Ask nicely and he might even take you to his secret soccer field.
Who inspires you the most? My Brother. His achievements and lifestyle inspires me to do better and be like him.
What do you consider your greatest achievement to be? Being able to call myself a Sous Chef at one of the best hotels in the world.
What do you love most about Cape Town? I love going to the beach! We have the best beaches in Cape Town and a huge variety to choose from.
Perfect day off in Cape Town? Spending time with my 2 kids – playing games with them or helping them with their homework. Maybe even a visit to the beach with them.
What is your favourite hidden gem? There is a wonderful soccer field in Salt River, close to my home. It’s a little hidden away, so we can go and play anytime without worrying about availability.
Where did you grow up? Harare, Zimbabwe.
What do you aspire to learn more about? I would love to learn more about pastry work as well as the administrative side of running a kitchen.
Why do you love working at Ellerman House? I learn something new every day.
What do you value most in your colleagues? They’re the best at what they do.
What is your favourite spot at Ellerman House? The Villa One kitchen. It’s incredibly spacious with a comfortable set up to work in.
What do you think makes Ellerman House the best hotel in the world? Guests really appreciate our style of service. Very professional, but relaxed at the same time. We don’t take ourselves to seriously.
