Birkenhead House

The best way to describe Birkenhead House is as a beach house with exceptional 5 star service. Relaxation is key when you check in here and if you’re lucky, you might spot a whale from your room. The hotel has its own spa for guests to enjoy. For extra privacy, stay at the child-friendly Birkenhead House Villa, which comes with five bedrooms.

Tsala Treetop Lodge

Tsala Treetop Lodge is all stones, wood and glass high up in the forest on the Garden Route. If you want to get away and be one with nature this is a perfect hideaway and ideally situated between coastal towns of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Here guests can enjoy a number of activities from swimming with seals, elephant interactions to walking with cheetah’s at a sanctuary nearby. The area is great for bird-watching.

Shamwari Bayethe Lodge

Shamwari Bayethe Lodge is situated in the malaria-free Shamwari Game Reserve on the Eastern Cape slopes. “Bayethe Nkosi” means, “I salute you great one” in Xhosa and you can expect to be treated like royalty at this lodge. The lodge has only 12 luxury tents up in a hill with a spectacular view of the bush. You won’t have to worry about malaria in this bush but the other great thing about Shamwari is that their lodges are child-friendly. There are a number of activities designed to keep children entertained making this an ideal bush getaway for families.
